Global Hunger Relief
With millions of starving and malnourished people in the world, SKT Welfare’s Food appeal has set out to deliver live-saving food parcels to impoverished communities in need. Our food parcels are filled with nutritious items that will keep a family of five happily fed for an entire month – all for just £1.66 a day.
We’re currently working to put an end to hunger in Pakistan, Syria, Yemen, Tanzania, Palestine, Bangladesh and Syria.
This Ramadan with your help, we can feed families all over the globe!
the effects of hunger
99% of the world’s malnourished people currently live in developing countries. They are food insecure, unsure where their next meal will be coming from, and forced to suffer the debilitating effects of hunger.
Malnutrition can lead to stunted growth, sight problems, diabetes, heart disease and other serious issues. It is one of the world’s biggest killers.
Without proper nourishment, these people are faced with serious health concerns and growth problems for themselves and their children.
The situation in Pakistan is dire, with Malnutrition and hunger rapidly increasing throughout the country.
Widespread poverty severely limits many people’s access to food, leaving thousands of Pakistanis food insecure. These families don’t know where their next meal will be coming from and they often ration what little food they have, sending their children to bed with empty stomachs more often than not.
SKT Welfare is working in Pakistan to put an end to hunger, and ensure Pakistani families get the quality food they need to live a healthy life. Our Pakistan food distribution appeal provides vulnerable families with food packs that will feed them for an entire month.
Years of conflict and violent airstrikes have had a devastating effect on the country, leaving nearly 15.9 million people at risk of starvation.
Malnutrition is at an all-time high, and the Yemeni people are in desperate need of aid. A small donation of £50 could provide a Yemeni family with a life-saving food parcel. Our food parcels are filled with a generous amount of nutritious meal items that will provide a family of five with enough food for an entire month.
With our Food for Yemen appeal it only takes a mere £1.66 a day to feed these vulnerable families.
Due to over 9 years of brutal war, Syria’s agricultural industry has collapsed and caused food prices to skyrocket well above what most people can afford. Many impoverished families simply don’t have the funds to buy enough food for the whole family to have a nutritious, balanced diet.
You can help alleviate their suffering by donating a food pack filled with nutritious items.
As of 2018, an estimated 5.4 million people in Somalia, many of whom are children, need urgent, life-saving humanitarian aid, not knowing where their next meal will come from. That number is expected to rise in the coming days and month, as the spread of Coronavirus puts millions at huge threat. Over 1.2 million children are estimated to be acutely malnourished, which can lead to defects such as stunted growth and other severe health complications. Countless people are dying from starvation.
With your support, we will provide thousands of people in Somalia with vital food packages. We will focus our efforts on the most impoverished areas, particularly with refugee communities who have fled conflict and violence, including Mogadishu, Somaliland and Putland.
Our food parcels include rice, flour, sugar, cooking oil, dates, powered milk, porridge, pasta, vegetables, and soup.
Your support will go a long way in providing urgently needed food supplies for the vast number of families who are experiencing extreme poverty, enabling them to thrive and prosper without the worry of constant hunger.
With high unemployment rates, low income and conflict on their doorstep, Palestinians in Gaza face a daily struggle to feed their families. Blockades have seriously limited trade in and out of Gaza, resulting in the skyrocketing price of food and the rampant food insecurity throughout the area.
Since the conflict first broke out in 2014, SKT Welfare has been on the ground in Gaza hand-delivering food parcels to families in need. We are fully committed to helping our brothers and sisters in Palestine by providing them with nutritious food parcels that will feed a family of five for an entire month.
Every donation puts food on the table and gives families the comfort of knowing where their next meal is coming from.
In Myanmar, whole villages were burned to the ground, men were brutalised, women were attacked and raped, and a whole host of atrocities were committed against the Rohingya people.
Families fled to Bangladesh as quickly as they could, with no more than the clothes on their backs and the hope for a better future. In Cox’s Bazar living conditions are overcrowded and Rohingya refugees are completely dependent upon aid to survive.
Our team in Cox’s Bazar are working tirelessly to eliminate hunger throughout the community by delivering food parcels to vulnerable families in need. Each food parcel is made up of nutritious essentials that will keep a family of five fed for an entire month. Our parcels contain healthy foods such as rice, potatoes, onions, vermicelli, lentils, sugar, salt and oil.
, while 12% of these children are faced with serious, long-term effects to their growth because of hunger. You can help Rohingya children and their families fight the effects of malnutrition by donating a food parcel today through our Rohingya appeal.
The majority of the refugees in Tanzania are from Burundi hosted in camps in Kigoma region. Fifty-six per cent of the refugee population are children under 18 years, and more than 7,500 are unaccompanied and separated children.
The refugee population continues to grow with up to 1,000 babies born each month across the three camps. These refugees are severely under risk of malnourishment and face a high risk of disease and death.
Our SKT volunteers are working on the ground delivering food packs to vulnerable families, which contain essentials, such as sugar, rice, flour, beans and oil.
In Tanzania, millions of people are at risk of starvation. Without reliable access to food, they will continue to scrounge and scrape for meals to feed their families, for the strength to carry on.
Tanzania is in need of urgent humanitarian assistance, and you can help provide them with just that for as little as £1.66 a day. Your donation will provide the support Tanzanian families need to put food on the table and hope in their hearts.
SYRIAN REFUGEES IN TURKEY
Since 2011, millions of Syrian refugees have been forced from their homeland because of violent conflict. They have fled to Turkey in search of safety, many of them with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
These Syrians, now in a new country, have little choice but to live in poverty due to lack of job opportunities, with These people have escaped the conflict in Syria, only to be met with uncertainty and squalor.
Turkey is home to the largest number of refugees in the world and as a result, struggles to cope with the sheer number of people in need of aid. To help ease Syrian suffering, SKT Welfare has teams on the ground in Turkey delivering hunger relief to families in the Hatay province, near the Syrian border.
We deliver food packs to families living in abject poverty throughout towns and refugee camps in the area. Each food pack has been carefully crafted to meet the nutrition needs of the displaced Syrian families in Turkey and will cover their basic food requirements for an entire month.
